Litter picking in the valley

Date: 25th Jan 2020 @ 11:19am

On Thursday January 23rd Miss Howard's final eco team spent their environmental management session tidying the banks of Taunton Brook in the schools Nature Reserve.

It has not been easy to keep the Clough end of the valley clear of litter since the bridge has collapsed, and getting to the area the children were working in involved scrambling down muddy banks and fording Taunton Brook itself. Luckily it was not a wet day so conditions were not as treacherous as they could have been.

A lot of litter was collected. Much of it blown across from Oldham Road. The children also cleared a lot of rubbish from the paths around Worthington Close. It was a good job we had gloves and litter pickers as some rubbish was very old. Great care was taken to ensure everyone was safe and no risks were taken.

It was lovely to be thanked for what we were doing by various members of the public as we made our way back to school along Oldham Road.
