Faith In Action Club

‘Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.’

Matthew 7:24

‘“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”’

Matthew 17:20

In the Canon Burrows Faith in Action Club, we hope to:

  1. Deepen the children’s faith by spending time reading God’s word and learning more about significant Christian festivals.
  2. Put our faith into action by planning and organising projects, both in school and in the local community.

Some projects we have done so far and hope to repeat are:

  • Delivering hampers of goodies to housebound members of Christ Church
  • Delivering homemade Advent calendars which tell the Christmas story to those same members of Christ Church as well as each classroom in school, to help them prepare for Christmas
  • Collecting Easter eggs and delivering them to the Town House, a homeless shelter in Ashton, along with some Easter cards that we made
  • Planning, preparing and running a ‘Stations of the Cross’ event for the Year 3 and 4 children, leading them in their reflections and prayers before Easter

The club is organised around the church calendar and each term, different children are invited take part. Our Bible studies and outreach projects are linked to the festivals being celebrated by Christians that term:
