Faith In Action Club

‘Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.’

Matthew 7:24

‘“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”’

Matthew 17:20

In the Canon Burrows Faith in Action Club, we hope to:

  1. Deepen the children’s faith by spending time reading God’s word and learning more about significant Christian festivals.
  2. Put our faith into action by planning and organising projects, both in school and in the local community.

So far, we have put together Christmas hampers and delivered them to housebound members of Christ Church, along with an Advent calendar we created using Bible verses to tell the Christmas story. We also delivered an Advent calendar to each classroom in school to help them prepare for Christmas. We have also collected Easter eggs and delivered them to the Town House, a homeless shelter in Ashton, along with some Easter cards that we made. Before breaking up for Easter, we planned, prepared and ran a ‘Stations of the Cross’ event for the Year 3 and 4 children, leading them in their reflections and prayers. Every term, we have shared what we have been doing with the rest of the school by leading a time of collective worship.

The club is organised around the church calendar and each term different children are invited take part. Our Bible studies and outreach projects are linked to the festivals being celebrated by Christians that term:
