Summer 1 Week 2

This week the Nursery children have been looking at the story of Jack and the beanstalk. As part of our learning about growing and life cycles we have planted some sunflowers. The children will be bringing them home next week so they can continue to learn how to look after and care for plants with you at home. Please send some pictures in of them when they have blossomed and grown.

In R.E this week, we heard the story of Jesus calming the storm. We heard how this story shows how Jesus was a good friend because His disciples (special friends) could trust Him to look after them. We had fun re-enacting the story in the water tray.  

We sang the song ‘With Jesus in the boat, we can smile through the storm’ again. This song reminds us that we too can trust Jesus in the storms of life.

In phonics we have been learning about the letter ‘l’ and our Nursery rhyme this week is ‘Incy Wincy Spider’. In Squiggle while you wiggle we have been learning the side to side marks and putting this together with last weeks marks to form the letter ‘t’ for those that are ready.

We have been continuing to model how to share and play nicely with our new friends in the classroom and revisiting our class rules and expectations.

In Music we have been exploring making different sounds using our voices e.g;

• Princess/giant/robot
• Happy/sad/angry/excited
• Loud/quiet/whispering
• High/low
• Fast/slow
• Singing voice – different so-mi pitches

In PSHE we have been discussing the meaning of ‘triggers’ and thinking about what triggers them- to go into the red zone. We reflected on our different emotions and what causes them.
