Religious Education

Religious education in a Church school should enable every child to flourish and to live life in all its fullness. (John 10:10). It will help educate for dignity and respect encouraging all to live well together. Such an approach is offered through a commitment to generous hospitality, being true to our underpinning faith, but with a deep respect for the integrity of other religious traditions (and worldviews) and for the religious freedom of each person. Being a Church school is incredibly important to us, therefore, because of that, our faith is at the forefront of everything we do. To find out more about this, visit the 'Christianity' section of our website.

We plan our religious education curriculum in accordance with the Manchester Diocesan Board of Education RE syllabus, using RE Today Primary RE Curriculum resources to support this.  Whilst 50% of  our teaching focuses on Christianity, the curriculum also includes the principal religions and worldviews in the UK, allowing us the celebrate the views of all children across our school. It also allows our children the opportunity to explore the three academic disciplines of RE: theology, philosophy and human sciences.

We are confident that the curriculum meets the needs of our learners living in Manchester today, therefore contributing to the children’s appreciation that everyone is special, precious and unique, as well as impacting their moral and spiritual development.

Throughout our RE curriculum, The Big Frieze is referred to.
