Our Eco Committee – Leading Change at Canon Burrows
Our Eco Committee plays a vital role in making Canon Burrows a greener, more sustainable school.
As an Eco School and Eco Ambassadors, we take our responsibilities seriously, ensuring that our actions make a real difference for our school, our community, and the planet.
What is Eco-Schools?
Eco-Schools is a simple, seven step framework designed to place young people, like yourself, in control of environmental actions and projects in your school, local community and beyond.
Why involve young people?
Climate change is happening now, and the impacts of climate change will only increase in the future. But young people don’t have to be bystanders. You can make a difference.
Children on the committee meet every half term, giving them the opportunity to share their ideas, have their voices heard, and actively shape the way our school works toward a sustainable future. From planning initiatives to leading projects and campaigns, our Eco Committee members are at the heart of driving positive environmental change.
The seven steps
Form an Eco-Committee
Complete the Eco-Schools Environmental Review
Decide on an Action Plan
Gather environmental Curriculum Links
Inform and Involve others
Monitor and Evaluate projects in the Action Plan
Create an Eco-Code
Path to a Greener Future
