Our Governors
Our Governors
At Canon Burrows CE Primary School, our Governing Body is a dedicated and diverse group of individuals who work together to support and guide the school. Governors include parents, education professionals, members of the local community, and representatives of the Church.
Our work is rooted in our vision:
“At Canon Burrows, we believe that each person is made in the image of God and is special, precious and unique. We provide an inspirational context where each person develops morally, spiritually, academically and physically to their full potential.”
Guided by this vision and our Christian values of friendship, hope, compassion, perseverance, creativity, and responsibility, Governors ensure that every decision supports the flourishing of all within our school community.
Governors fulfil key legal responsibilities, including:
· Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
· Hold the Head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
· Oversee the financial performance of the school making sure its money is well spent
Meetings and Terms of Office
Governors meet once each half term to consider all aspects of school life, including pupil wellbeing, academic progress, and financial sustainability. In doing so, they ensure that the school continues to provide an inspirational environment where all can thrive.
All meetings are formally minuted, and copies are available upon request.
Governors (apart from the Headteacher and Ex-Officio Foundation Governors) serve a four-year term and may be re-appointed or re-elected. Staff Governors step down if they leave the school.
