Summer 1 Week 4
Date: 16th May 2025 @ 9:56am
In R.E this week we looked at the story of ‘The great catch of fish’. This story also shows us how Jesus is a good friend because He is trustworthy and cares about us. His disciples were disheartened because they hadn’t caught any fish, but when they listened to Jesus and trusted Him, they caught lots of fish! We sang the song ‘Jesus’s love is very wonderful’. This song reminds us that Jesus loves us a lot - more than we can ever know!
In Maths this week we have been thinking about shapes. We have been using language to describe shapes to say if they have straight sides, round sides, if they have pointy corners or if they are smooth. We have been playing some simple jigsaw games to match objects from around the classroom to their silhouette.
In Phonics we have been looking at the letter ‘w’. We have been looking at objects with the initial sound and we have been practising our listening skills with some simple Phase 1 activities such as using our robot voices to segment and blend sounds in words such as ‘w-e-b’, ‘ch-ee-se’, ‘qu-a-ck’. In Squiggle while you wiggle we have been re-capping over our 'over the hump' mark and for those of us who are ready we have been challenging ourselves to use the mark to help us form the letter 'n' and 'm'.
In PSHE this week we have been looking at the story of The Colour Monster alongside learning about our Zones of Regulations. We have been practising using sentences to describe and explain how we are feeling e.g. “I feel sad because…..”
**Just a little reminder that we have our whole class REAL project event on Wednesday 21st May at 9:30 which all parents are welcome to attend. We will be having a lovely performance in the hall again delivered by 2 Boards and a Passion and then we will be coming back to the classroom for a ‘Writing Party’ to explore the importance of mark making and different ways this can be done.
