Summer 2 Week 2
Date: 22nd Jun 2025 @ 11:13pm
This week the Nursery children have had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine and exploring our EYFS garden area. They have been practicing their balancing and climbing skills on the beams, looking for wildlife and nature in our bird hive, making mud cakes in the mud kitchen, making music and practicing our turn taking skills to use our big digger toys.
In Math’s we have been continuing our learning about comparing amounts to say whether two numbers or amounts are the same or different. We have then been using our complex sentences to describe which pile has more or less and how we know.
In Phonics we have been looking at the letter ‘y’, looking at objects that begin with that sound and in particular focusing on hearing and recognizing rhyming words such as ‘hat, cat, bat, rat’.
Our Poetry Basket rhyme for this week was ‘5 Little Peas’.
5 Little peas in a pea pod pressed,
1 grew, 2 grew, so did all the rest.
They grew, and they grew and they did not stop,
Until one day the pod went POP!
In R.E we learned about the Holy Spirit, who God sent down as fire and wind to be with the disciples after Jesus went up to Heaven. We talked about how this was a special time for them because it was the birthday of the Church. We knew that Jesus’s hands were in the picture because they had scars on them.
We talked about how the Holy Spirit gave the disciples the power to do something they couldn’t do on their own—speak different languages. We learned how to say “Hello” in a few languages:
In PSHE we practiced our listening skills by listening to different instruments, closing our eyes and guessing which instrument we could hear being played from under a blanket. It was lots of fun!
