Summer 2 Week 3
Date: 27th Jun 2025 @ 3:04pm
The Nursery children have had such a fantastic week celebrating ‘Happy Minds and Happy Bodies week!’
As part of our learning about how to keep our bodies healthy we have been learning all about Healthy Eating. We looked at the different types of food we should eat and how much of each food we need to make our bodies healthy and strong. We also talked about why it is important to drink lots of water and milk but not to have too many sugary drinks or treats to look after our teeth.
The Nursery children made some yummy salads as part of our learning about Healthy eating. The children tasted some different vegetables and practised their fine motor skills by chopping lettuce, cucumber, tomato, avocado, carrots and peppers.
The Nursery children have had a very exciting morning today taking part in their very first Sports Day. They were absolutely brilliant and they all did so well joining in with running races, jumping races, balancing bean bags and an egg and spoon race too.
The children have also enjoyed another sports session with Freddie Fit this week as part of their learning about why exercise is important to keep our bodies healthy.
This week, we began our new topic on prayer in R.E by thinking about what prayer is and how we might do it. In our Chatterbox were some objects to help different faiths focus on God when they pray, such as a holding Cross, prayer beads or candle and using a prayer mat. We thought about how we talk to other people on the phone, computers, by sending cards and letters or using sign language but how we tend to talk to God by speaking, singing or dancing. We enjoyed listening to the song ‘Our Father’. We talked about how this prayer is said in lots of different languages all over the world.
Finally, we heard what Jesus thought about prayer:
“When you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private.”
Matthew 6:5-8
We thought about when we might be on our own and could pray and decided we could do it when we
are playing in our bedrooms or going to sleep or in our prayer area within the classroom.
The children have blown us away again this week with their imaginative stories they have been
coming up with as part of our ‘Helicopter Stories learning’ and we had lots of fun acting them out together in our square.
In Drawing Cub we have been looking at the story of the 'Three Billy Goats Gruff'. The children have created some beautiful pictures of trolls and meadows.
