Spring 2 Week 1
Date: 26th Feb 2026 @ 12:47pm
Welcome back to all of our Nursery children and families, we hope you all had a fun and restful half term. We have now started our new topic of ‘What lives in God’s wonderful world’. Please see the Nursery newsletter or unit plan on the website for an overview of what we will be focusing on this half term.
UW
The Nursery children have had lots of fun this week learning about Chinese New Year. They enjoyed tasting some yummy Chinese Food, making Chinese crafts and learning about the story of 'The Great Race'.

We have some very exciting new visitors in Nursery this week! We had a magical morning watching our first little chick hatch. The children were mesmerized and are really enjoying learning about the life cycle of a chicken. We have been drawing and painting pictures of chicks and ordering the life cycle of a chick.
English
In English we have been learning about the story ‘Noisy Farm’ by Rod Campbell ready for our exciting trip to the farm on the 10th. We have enjoyed singing along to the nursery rhyme ‘Old Macdonald had a farm’.
R.E
The Nursery children began our new R.E topic by hearing the first part of the Easter story. We learned how Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to lots of people cheering, so we reflected on how they must have felt happy and excited. We thought Jesus must have felt happy and loved too.
PSHE
In PSHE we have been re-visiting and reminding ourselves of our class rules by sorting different actions into two buckets for what would make us all happy or sad in the classroom e.g. using kind hands and sharing makes everyone happy but shouting and hurting makes everyone sad.
Maths
In Maths we have been practising our counting skills this week by finding amounts within a story and showing these on our fingers.
Phonics
In Phonics we have been looking at the letter ‘e’ and learning different objects that begin with that sound. Our Nursery rhyme for this week is ‘12345 Once I caught a fish alive’ and our poem for this week is called ‘Furry Furry Squirrel’.
A huge thank you to the parents who attended our reading workshop lead by Sarah from Book Start this morning. The children all enjoyed listening and joining in with the stories and we all learnt lots of tips of how to share a story together in a fun and engaging way.
