Spring 2 Week 2

UW

The Nursery children have had lots of fun this week continuing their learning about the life cycle of a chicken by observing our little chicks grow in the classroom and learning how to look after them.

English

In English we have been listening to different animal sounds and guessing which farm animal it belongs to and we have been learning the names of different farm animals and their babies.

PSHE

In PSHE we have been thinking about what we are grateful for about ourselves. We re-capped over the different character strengths;

  • Love and Kindness
  • Friendship and Teamwork
  • Bravery and Honesty
  • Learning and Exploring
  • Love of Life and our World.

The children passed a mirror around the circle, saying what they are thankful for about themselves e.g. I am thankful for being funny, sporty, arty, brave, helping others, looking after animals.

Maths

In Maths we have continued to practise our counting skills by matching numerals to amounts, ordering numbers, counting by moving our bodies and throwing the correct amount of beanbags into numbered buckets.

Phonics

In Phonics we have been looking at the letter ‘u’ and learning different objects that begin with that sound. Our Nursery rhyme for this week is ‘A Sailor went to Sea Sea Sea’ and our poem for this week is called ‘Hungry Birdies’.

Squiggle while you Wiggle

In Squiggle while you wiggle we have been re-visiting our side to side mark this week and looking at how we use this mark in some of the letters in our names.

Music

In Music we have been developing our listening skills to hear whether different sounds were long or short.

Independent Learning

Around the classroom the children have been developing their imagination in our farm small world tray, investigating our Minibeast area, counting out chicks into nests and making some Easter playdough.

A huge thank you to the parents who attended our breakfast and read morning. It was so lovely to see so many families taking part to celebrate World Book day.
