Week 5
Thank you to all of the parents who have supported all of our little outings this week. We started the week with a fantastic Bunny Hop and Easter trail around the school grounds raising money for charity, we enjoyed a trip to Joseph Jennings creating some Easter crafts with the residents and we joined the rest of school for a trip to church for a lovely Easter service.
English
The Nursery children have been practicing their fine motor skills this week by exploring making different types of marks using a dice. They have been drawing wavy lines, straight lines, zig zags, swirls, dots and circles.
Maths
In Maths we have been exploring positional and directional language by trying to put jigsaw pieces together, completing an obstacle course outside and learning the playground game ‘In and out the dusty bluebells’.
UW
We have enjoyed a lovely walk around the school grounds this week looking for signs of Spring. The children found Spring bulbs, buds, new leaves on trees, birds, cherry blossom and buzzy bees.
R.E
This week, we heard the sad part of the Easter story - Good Friday. We learned why Jesus said the bread was His body and the wine was His blood - because He died and He wanted his followers to remember Him. Next week we will hear the happy ending of the story and find out why it is called Good Friday. We looked at several Crosses and found one on the Big Frieze. We saw how it led to the colourful paint pots we saw in the Creation story. God used Jesus’s death as a way for us to have a happy ending. The Cross reminds Christians of Jesus’s sacrifice.
We then looked at the happy ending of the Easter story - Jesus is risen! We talked about how the women would have felt when they saw that the tomb was empty and an angel was there instead of Jesus - surprised, shocked and upset. We then talked about how they would have felt excited once they knew that Jesus had risen and could be found in Galilee.
We then heard how Easter eggs represent the tomb that Jesus was put in and how their emptiness shows the emptiness of the tomb because Jesus has risen.
We listened to the song ‘Celebrate’ and talked about how it made us feel happy.
