Week 3
Squiggle while you Wiggle, Poetry Basket
In Squiggle while you wiggle this week we have been revisiting the over the hump mark and using this to help us form the letters- n, m. In Poetry basket this week our poem was called ‘5 Little Peas’ which inspired us to plant some green beans ourselves. We are excited to watch them grow into giant beanstalks like the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.
R.E
In R.E this week we looked at the story of ‘The great catch of fish’. This story also shows us how Jesus is a good friend because He is trustworthy and cares about us. His disciples were disheartened because they hadn’t caught any fish, but when they listened to Jesus and trusted Him, they caught lots of fish! We sang the song ‘Jesus’s love is very wonderful’. This song reminds us that Jesus loves us a lot - more than we can ever know!
PSHE
In PSHE we watched the ‘good friends song’ from My Happy Mind. We re-capped on how we show good listening skills. When do we need to use them? Why are they important?
- Listening to a story
- During carpet time or when you are playing a game
- When it is home time and you need to get your things
- When a friend is trying to tell you something
- When you are taking turns playing with a toy
- When grown-ups are asking you to do something in school/a home
- When it is bedtime and you are brushing your teeth
- At dinnertime
We re-read the story ‘Rose’s story’ and played a little game to check their listening skills- every time they heard the word Rose they had to put their hands on their heads. We then enjoyed some belly breathing to help regulate our emotions.
Music
In Music this week the children have been exploring using their voices to create different sounds such as a snake hissing, a bee buzzing, talking like a robot or using our singing voice. We also explored different ways of playing an instrument with the song ‘If you’re happy and you know it”.
- If you’re sad – SLOW
- If you’re excited – FAST
- If you’re tired – SLOW IT DOWN
- If you’re late – FAST
Independent Learning
During independent learning the children have been digging for treasure, creating pirate maps, pirate flags, matching up familiar logos and enjoying retelling the story of ‘Jack and the beanstalk’ with our story tray and props.
