Summer 1 Week 3
Date: 9th May 2025 @ 12:24pm
The Nursery children have had a lovely week this week. We had a wonderful visit to see our friends at Joseph Jennings court on Tuesday to celebrate VE Day with them by making some lovely Union Jack themed crafts. We made paper garlands, bunting and flags. We learnt all about why people celebrate VE Day, and why it is so important.
We have also been busy making some yummy jam sandwiches to link with our Poetry Basket rhyme- Sliced Bread
Sliced Bread
Slice, slice, the bread looks nice.
Spread, spread, butter on the bread.
On the top put jam so sweet,
Now it's good enough to eat.
We practised our fine motor skills to spread the butter and jam on to the bread and practised our cutting skills to cut the sandwich in half.
In R.E this week we learnt how Jesus is a good friend because He is trustworthy and cares about us. His disciples were disheartened because they hadn’t caught any fish, but when they listened to Jesus and trusted Him, they caught lots of fish!
We sang the song ‘Jesus’s love is very wonderful’. This song reminds us that Jesus loves us a lot - more than we can ever know!
In Phonics this week we have been learning about the sound ‘j’ to link with our jam sandwiches. Our Nursery rhyme this week has been ‘Jack and Jill’ which has also linked really nicely with out letter of the week. Our Squiggle while you wiggle mark this week has been forming circles and for those of us who were ready, we had a go at forming the letter ‘c’, ‘o’, ‘a’ and ‘p’ with our circular marks.
In Maths this week we have been working on our subitising skills again trying to recognise numbers 1-3 by sight in a variety of ways without counting them. We have been playing lots of fun games to help us learn!
