Week 4
PSHE
In PSHE this week we have been focusing on using our words to explain how we are feeling using the zones of regulation colours for example ‘ I feel…… I am in the …… zone’.
R.E
This week, we began our new topic all about special places. We heard the story of Abraham and how God asked him to leave his home and travel far away. Abraham was thankful to God for providing him with lots of good things along the way - land, sheep, cows and even a son! Everywhere he was thankful, he built an altar and thanked God. We then heard about how Jewish people began to build temples with altars where they thanked God, and also how Christians build churches with altars for the same reason.
These places are special to Jews and Christians because they are where they feel close to God. We thought about where our special places are:
- At home
- In my bedroom
- In my garden
- At my grandmas
UW
In UW we have been continuing our learning about plants and we have been reflecting o the names of the different parts of a plant and why they are important. Within drawing club this week we have been having a go at drawing flowers and labelling the different parts with initial sounds.
Poetry Basket, Phonics
Our poem this week is called ‘Monkey Babies’ which we have really enjoyed joining in with. Our Phonics sound this week is ‘l’. We have been playing a game of ‘I Spy’ focusing on hearing initial sounds.
English
This week in English we started our new text ‘Superworm’. The children have loved joining in with the Superworm chant, observing worms in our class wormery and singing the nursery rhyme “There’s a worm at the bottom of my garden”.
Independent Learning
During independent learning this week the children have been enjoying exploring planting plants in our garden tray, painting flowers, observing worms in our wormery and sorting worms by size.
