Week 5
English
As part of our Literacy learning this week linked with the story ‘Kindness makes us Strong,’ we made some chocolate chip cookies. We worked together to follow the instructions, measure the ingredients and mix them altogether. They were delicious!

PE
In PE this week we have been focusing on jumping and hopping.
UW
We have been learning all about Autumn and the changes in the season in Nursery this week. We have been on an Autumn walk around our school grounds looking at the different signs of Autumn such as the weather getting colder, leaves changing colour and falling off the trees. We all filled up a bucket with Autumn treasures we collected which we then used to create some beautiful Autumn collages.

PSHE
This week we have been thinking about how we keep our bodies and brains healthy. We practiced some ‘belly breathing’ to help calm us down when our brain is feeling fizzy and overwhelmed.
Music
In Music this week we have been using scarfs to move our bodies freely and dance along to the music.
R.E
In R.E this week we thought about how our names are another example of how we are special and unique. We learned that God has our names written on the palms of his hands (Isaiah 49:16) and that this means He holds us close, we are special to Him and He loves us. We all decorated our own names and looked at how they were all different but special.
Rhyme Time, Phonics and Poetry Basket
As part of our Phonics learning this week we went on a listening walk around school and the school grounds to see what we could hear. We listened to the sounds of cars, the wind, music playing, the water in the sink, pots clanging in the schools kitchens, hand dryers in the bathrooms and the sound of birds. We also enjoyed a ‘Munch and Crunch’ snack time where we used our listening skills to see whether different foods made a loud crunchy sound when we eat them or a quiet munchy sound.

Independent Learning
During independent learning this week we have been building houses, painting with Autumn leaves, painting Autumn trees and completing jigsaws. We have also enjoyed exploring a woodland tray and using our senses to feel Autumn objects in our hidden baskets.
