Autumn 2 Week 1

Date: 6th Nov 2025 @ 2:13pm

Week 1

Welcome back, we hope you had a wonderful half term and managed to enjoy all of the wonderful celebrations of Halloween, Diawli and Bonfire Night as a family.

English

For English our topic book for the next few weeks is ‘Real Superheroes’ by Julia Seal. We will be learning about lots of different occupations over the next few weeks and about how different people help us within the community.

We have been very lucky to have some real dentists come to visit us in class this week to talk about how important it is for us to look after our teeth.

UW

Tomorrow Nursery will be making and eating some yummy chocolate apples as part of their learning about Bonfire Night traditions and how to stay safe. The children really enjoyed sharing their experiences of watching fireworks or going to see a bonfire.

PSHE

As it is the first week of a new half term we have been re-visiting our class rules as part of our PSHE learning and thinking about our emotions again using our Zones of regulations colours.

Music

In Music we have been exploring playing instruments fast and slowly whilst singing along to the song ‘If you’re happy and you know it play it……..’ We have also really enjoyed moving our body to the song ‘Well you walk and you walk’ whilst practising our listening skills of stopping when asked.

R.E

In R.E this week we have been learning about special people in the community and how they help us such as police officers, firemen, doctors, vets etc.

Rhyme Time, Phonics and Poetry Basket

Our Nursery Rhyme for this week is ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ and we have been busy practicing our Nursery rhymes ready for our performance next week. In phonics we have introduced our first sound of the week ‘s’. We have attached a picture that matches the sound below. To support your child to pronounce the sound, say “Show your teeth and and let the s hiss out ssssss ssssss”. We have also been playing lots of fun games to support us hearing the initial sounds in our name.

Squiggle while you wiggle

In Squiggle while you wiggle this week we have been practising our ‘Spinning around clockwise and anti-clockwise’ whilst boogying along to ‘ Spinning around’.

Independent Learning

During independent learning this week we have been creating pictures of bonfires and fireworks, mark making in glitter, exploring how to clean teeth and counting teeth. We have practised our letter ‘s’ and made some stars for people who are special to us.
