Week 6

The children have been busy making some beautiful Christmas cards for you this week and on Thursday they went on a walk to our local post box to post them home. This was part of our learning about Postmen and why they are important linked with the story of ‘The Jolly Postman’.

Maths

In Maths we have been continuing to recognsie the amounts 1-3 represented in different ways from sight without counting them.

PE

In PE this week we have been re-capping on all of our throwing skills that we have learnt so far this half term.

R.E

This week, we retold the Christmas story together using the small world stable and characters to help us aswel as dressing up as the characters from the story ourselves. We reminded ourselves why we celebrate Christmas (because it is Jesus’s birthday) and why Jesus was a special baby (because He was God’s son).

We heard how many people were living in darkness before Jesus was born, making bad choices, but that Jesus being born brought light into the world. We thought about what the world would have been like if Jesus hadn’t been born.

PSHE

This week we have continued to talk through the different character strengths. We focused on exploring and learning, and thought about how and where have we shown this character strength? We celebrated those that have by asking questions and showing they want to learn and find out new things. We then did some happy breathing using our figure of 8.

Music

In Music this week we have been practising moving our bodies freely to music using scarves.

Rhyme Time, Phonics and Poetry Basket

In Phonics, we have focused on our new sound ‘n’. We have also been very busy practicing our Christmas carols ready for performing them to you next week, we hope you enjoy them!

Squiggle while you wiggle

In Squiggle while you wiggle we have been boogying along to ‘Return of the Mack’ practising our ‘Split the Under hump left and right.’
