Week 3
English
In English the Nursery children have had lots of fun going on their own sensory Bear Hunt to help retell the story. They explored lots of different textures with their feet to represent different parts of the story. We had lots of giggles in the 'deep cold river' and the 'thick oozy mud!'
We also created our own yummy shortbread teddy bears ready today for our Teddy bears picnic. We had such a lovely afternoon listening to some bear stories with our teddy bears and eating some yummy homemade treats for our picnic.
Maths
The Nursery children have been learning about repeated patterns in Maths this week. They matched up different animal patterns to the correct animals and found matching pairs of socks. They then created their own repeated patterns to design their own socks.
PE
In P.E this week we have been imagining being at the seaside and the children have been moving their bodies to represent different things they might see at the beach such as a boat, waves and seagulls.
UW
We have been learning all about different types of bears this week and learning the names of a Panda, Polar Bear, Brown Bear and Black Bear.
R.E
In R.E this week we Re-read the story of Noah’s Ark and discussed how this story is found in the Bible in the Old Testament. We thought about how Noah showed lots of courage and trust in God. We then re-enacted the story using our own Ark and animals by making them go onto the boat two by two and we learnt the song ‘The animals went in two by two’.
PSHE
In PSHE this week we have been looking at different emotions and using some emotion fans to help us understand whether some of the emotions make us feel happy, sad, or angry such as feeling embarrassed, shy, hungry, sleepy.
Rhyme Time, Phonics and Poetry Basket
In Phonics we have been learning about the sound ‘d’. Our Nursery rhyme this week is ‘Row Row Row your boat’ and we have also enjoyed learning the Nursery Rhyme ‘Teddy Bear Teddy Bear turn around’ in our Music lesson. We enjoyed exploring different instruments and explored playing them loud, quiet, fast and slow. Our poem for this week is called ‘I can build a snowman.’
Squiggle while you wiggle
In Squiggle While you wiggle this week we have been learning the hook up whilst boogying along to ‘We are Family’.
Independent Learning
Within the classroom this week the children have been practicing their fine motor skills to match colours to a rainbow, matching patterns on socks together, sorting vehicles into which ones travel by land, water or air and creating some beautiful paintings of bears.
