Spring 1 Week 3

Date: 26th Jan 2026 @ 12:23pm

As part of our ECO learning this month we have learnt about recycling and the different things we can recycle. We thought about our ECO pledge and we have been ECO superstars this week at recycling our left over food and peels in our compost food bin. We also went out to look at the compost bin in the EYFS garden and learnt about how it works.

UW

The Nursery children have been learning about different types of transport this week and have reflected on the way they travel to school each day and the carbon footprint they are leaving behind. We completed the travel tracker and looked at how many of us walk/ drive/ get a bus or cycle to school each day. We then completed a tally chart on our front playground counting how many of each types of transport we could see.

We have also thought about the different ways these types of transport travel e.g. do they move in the sky, on the road, in water. We had a go at sorting these into the correct categories using our small world toys and through our cutting and sticking skills.

R.E

In R.E this week we heard a story from the New Testament of the Bible, told by Jesus. We learned that it is a parable because it teaches us how to live in a way that pleases God. We heard the story of the Good Samaritan and how he showed love and compassion to the man who had been hurt. We talked about who has helped us when we have been hurt:

  • Mummy
  • Daddy
  • Grandma
  • My Friends
  • My teachers

Maths

In Maths we have finished off our learning on patterns by creating our own. We have been matching different patterns on clothes together to create a 'pair' and learning the different language to compare patterns such as 'spots', 'stripes', 'zigzags', 'picture patterns.
