Spring 1 Week 4

Date: 29th Jan 2026 @ 12:48pm

UW

The Nursery children have been continuing our ECO learning this week by going out on a litter pick around our local community making our local environment a safer and nicer place for wildlife and our neighbours. We reflected on why it is important to look after God’s wonderful world and some of the ways we can do this.

English

In English this week we have been looking at the story of ‘Naughty Bus’ by Jan and Jerry Oke. We listened to the story and sang along to the nursery rhyme ‘Wheels on the bus’. We have been drawing and painting out own pictures of buses and forming a name jigsaw by recognising the letters in our names and putting them into the correct order.

Squiggle while you Wiggle

We have been fantastic mark makers this week with our ‘hook down’ mark for squiggle while you wiggle. We all really enjoyed making this mark and by the end of the week they looked fantastic!

Phonics

In Phonics we have introduced the sound 'o’ which is a picture of an octopus. We have been sorting different animals by their initial sounds and using our robot voices to segment and blend words together.

Maths

In Maths we have been thinking about prepositional language by playing the hokey cokey and following instructions of where to put their teddy e.g. ‘on our heads’, ‘behind our backs’, ‘under our legs’. We have been practising using the correct words to describe where objects are in the classroom and comparing sizes of objects by describing whether something is too big or small enough to fit into different sized boxes.
