Phonics

In Phonics we have introduced the sound 'c’. We have been sorting animals by their initial sounds, learning the initial sounds of our names, and blending sounds together to follow simple instructions such as ”can you tough your ch-i-n” or “can you touch your l-e-g”. I am really proud of how well they are doing remembering the sounds we have been learning!

Rhyme Time

Our Nursery rhyme this week is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and our poem for this week is called ‘Popcorn’ which has been lots of fun to learn.

Maths

In Maths we have been exploring and sorting different 2D  shapes seeing if we could name them and using language such as ‘curvy’, ‘pointy’, ‘round’ and ‘flat’ to describe different shaped objects from around the classroom.

P.E

In P.E this week the children were listening to the rhyme ‘Old Macdonald had a farm’ and thinking about the different animals that might live on the farm. They then tried to move their bodies in different ways to represent the different animals.

UW

The Nursery children have been learning about different types of transport and learning the names of some unfamiliar ones such as a hot air balloon, rowing boat, sailing boat and lorry. We have played a game guessing who drives which vehicle and why, for example a farmer needs a tractor with big wheels to drive over muddy fields.

English

In English this week we have continued looking at the story of ‘Naughty Bus’ but focusing on the nouns in the story and putting these into sentences to help us understand the meaning.

Squiggle while you Wiggle

We have been fantastic mark makers this week with our ‘spiral’ mark for squiggle while you wiggle. This was quite a tricky one but the children were fantastic!
