Week 6
UW
We have been learning all about Valentines this week. We learnt why it is celebrated and how people celebrate it. We have been busy making some Valentines cards and crafts for you which we hope you love! The children have also been enjoying learning about Valentines within provision by exploring rose petals in the water tray, our chocolate playdough, practising fine motor skills in our Valentines rice tray and painting/ drawing pictures of roses.
We have also been learning about the celebration of Pancake Day by making some yummy pancakes together this week. They were absolutely delicious and the children enjoyed them with a little bit of sugar and lemon juice for snack time. Our poem for this week has also been about ‘Pancake Day’, can your little ones remember it ready for Tuesday?
Mix a pancake
Stir a pancake
Pop it in a pan.
Fry a pancake
Toss a pancake
Catch it if you can.
This week the children went on another lovely visit to Joseph Jennings Court to visit the residents as part of our community partnership and to enjoy some fun Valentines themed crafts. The children were absolutely incredible and were so kind and caring with the elderly residents asking them questions, sharing their favourite stories with them and creating some Valentines crafts with them. It was such a beautiful morning and the children formed some lovely friendships with the residents, they are all very excited to see them again at Easter.
Phonics
In Phonics we have been learning all about the letter 'k'. We have been focusing on how to pronounce the letter, objects that begin with the letter and we have practised our listening skills with some simple phonics games.
Maths
In Maths we have continued our learning on recognising and representing numbers 1-3 using our fingers, objects and by recognising amounts of 1-3 in stories.
Squiggle while you wiggle
We have been continuing practising our spiral marks this week going from side to side. This was a really tricky mark this week but the children were absolutely fantastic at this!
Thank you for all your support this half term, we hope you have a wonderful holiday!
